faith and trust
When something happens in our life, we tend to ask a lot of questions and lose our Faith in God. I still question a lot of things going on in my life. But I always keep in mind that everything happens for a reason and God has a plan for me. All my life, I had been through a lot. When I was seven or eight years old, my dad had abused me, raped me, and molested me. I didn’t have anyone who was there for me because all I had was my father but he wasn’t there for me either. As the years went by, things got worse and worse. My dad’s addiction to drugs got worse throughout the days and caused me to get abused a lot more. My dad’s became so bad that we was losing everything we had and it got to a point where he burned down our room. So we got kicked out the house and we basically lived in the streets. Then, a lady let me stay at her house but since y dad was still on drugs, he couldn’t live in her house. I was so blessed that I had a place to stay at but I was still worried about my dad because he had no roof over his head, no food in his stomach, no clothes on his back, and most importantly he would get jumped by other crack dealers. I remember seeing him with a cracked head. There was blood all over the place and I was so scared because he could have a concussion. During his injury, his addiction ceased for a moment.
When he got better, he went back to the same ways as before. He began to rape and abused me a lot more then before. I didn’t know what was going on with me. I couldn’t tell anyone what happen between my dad and I. he threaten me to hurt me if I told anyone. Everyday I would go to school with bruises on my body from head to toe. My teachers would ask me “what happen” and I would make up excuses to protect myself. So one day, my principle called the foster kids center for me. These people came to my home and took me to my babysitter’s house. I am so glad that this family even existed. They are the Rodriguez familia. I don’t know what I would of done without them.
I started to live with them for a couple of years until my mom came to the United States. I was very happy when my mom came to the United States. And I thank God for that so much. I started to live with my mom when I was eleven years old. My mom and I don’t have that close relationship mother and daughters usually have. It hurts me sometimes because she always judges me and never be there for me or supports me on anything. Another thing is that she’s always working so it makes it worse for me because we don’t get a chance to communicate. I never told her things that are happening in my life because she doesn’t understand me at all. We would always argue but I always keep in mind that it’s the devil causing all of this to happen. And it doesn’t bother me anymore because I pray each night and it helps me work things out with my mom bit by bit.
I asked God “why are you doing this to me” and “why me?” I learned that never to do that because God has a reason of what’s happening in my life. That brings me to the words FAITH and TRUST. What do those words mean to you? To me faith is when you have full trust and confidence in someone, which is God. And trust is when you believe that God is reliable and honest to you no matter what. In Romans 8:28, his words says that “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” God knows everything including the future and he has a purpose for our life. We need to submit to God and trust that what we are experiencing will be used for good. That is why it’s very important to trust and have faith in the Lord and do good for he will give you what your heart desires. Just like Paul in the book of Philippians. He knew God was with him all the way no matter what. Paul knew that regardless of the circumstances, God would give him the strength to make it through. What I’m trying to say is that no matter how much you went through, always keep your focus on Christ and look for his guidance. Despite on our circumstances, have a positive and confident outlook on life. God is in control and all of his love surrounding us will give us security and confidence. And no matter what, we should delight in God and praise him for his goodness.
As you can see, I been through a lot but it paid off because if all of that never happened to me then I wouldn’t be able to help and inspire others. I hope you got something out of my story and make a difference in your life. And remember no situations you’re going through will compare to Jesus dying on the cross for us. You should be glad that you’re not going through worse situations. Thank you for reading my article and remember to pray each night and you are not alone. Shout out to Breyahn, The Rodriguez familia, Maria, and Sade.
